Synopsis

In the gritty streets of Busan, Han Eok-kwan, a small-time gangster, lives a reckless life of hustling and violence. But when fate delivers him an unexpected son, Jae-soo, his world shifts. While struggling to embrace fatherhood, Eok-Kwan falls for Shin Hye-rim, a widowed piano teacher seeking a fresh start for her two children, Soo-ah and Kyung-ho. Against all odds, their union creates a fragile but hopeful family, only to be shattered by Hye-Rim’s sudden death.

Eok-Kwan, once a hardened rogue, transforms into a devoted father, enduring the children’s rejection while striving to hold the family together. Years later, the scars of the past resurface as Jae-Soo and Soo-Ah wrestle with a love they can never pursue, while Kyung-Ho spirals into a life of crime. In a poignant act of sacrifice, Jae-Soo takes the fall for Kyung-Ho’s crime, leading to years of imprisonment and estrangement.

Having found some semblance of peace since the incident, Jae-Soo has now become a doctor, Soo-Ah quietly rebuilds her life at a record shop, and Eok-Kwan works tirelessly to mend their fractured family. However, their fragile stability is upended when Kyung-Ho returns, now deeply entrenched in the city’s criminal underworld. As their paths cross once more, the unresolved scars of their past resurface, forcing them to confront the tangled web of love, guilt, and redemption that binds them.
